POTC nail art

Summer time always brings out my desire for nail art. I am not sure why exactly, but sometimes I go through phases when I want nail art all the time. This is one of those phases.
This is a very simple design using only dots, in increasing sizes and a few colours. They are all from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection by OPI.

Easy as pie, but still cute :)
It's nice when you can use colours from a coordinating collection.

I do want to mention that I will be on vacation until August 8th, but I am setting some blog posts up ahead of time to post while I am gone. I will likely not have internet access while I am away but I will be able to check in and read comments on my phone.

Thanks for looking. ♥pam♥

Love & Beauty Blues

Here are a few colours by Love & Beauty. I have several of their colours and I love them all so far. The formulas are easy to work with, the price point is amazing and the colours are very trendy. I picked up these at Forever 21, for less than $3 each.

As you can see, they do blues very well, which is a great thing because I love blues.

Thanks for looking!

My 1st Guest Blog Post- by my Daughter!!

So apparently creativity runs in the family. Today's post features nail art done (wonderfully I might add) by my 18 year old daughter Mackenzie. She loves getting into my stash and playing around with colours and nail art. She is getting quite good at it! I especially loved the art she did on herself yesterday, so I snapped a few shots of it. Today she has a friend over, and she did some nail art on her as well. Again I snapped a few pics.
So, today's post is brought to you by my daughter- a nail artist in the making. ~Enjoy!

She painted on and sponged on random colours,
then did the black art free hand with a dotting tool, and a little striper and black polish.

A close up of her thumb. because I couldn't get it in the pics very well.

Below is a pic of the nail art Mackenzie did on her friend this evening.

Thanks to Mackenzie for the great nail art, and thanks to  her friend as well for modelling for me :)

I will have some swatches of a few more of the China Glaze Metro Collection up tomorrow. You can find my swatches of the first three I picked up by clicking here.

And I have some more great nail art coming up in the next week.

Enjoy!

Fruit Slices summer nail art

Summer always begs for a cool pitcher of lemonade or some other fruity drink with fruit slices and cherries, and strawberries floating in it. And perhaps a shot or two of your favourite fruity liqueur. It's been so hot here we have not been able to enjoy the poolside as much as usual. So I decided to bring my fruit slices indoors and wear them on my nails. This is fairly easy to do, and if you are not big on wearing cutesy nail art on your fingers, it looks amazing on toes as well.

I did all my favourite citrus fruits. Lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit.

I love fruity summery drinks, and I would love to hear what your favourites are.
I have a recipe for a slushy punch that I always keep in my freezer for when company arrives. It get's a lot of love from my guests.
You can find my recipe for it by clicking here
It's pretty amazeballs, I promise!

Feel free to send me your favourite drink recipe. I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for looking, and stay cool everyone!

OPI Miss Universe Collection

Yesterday I went to the beauty supply for some nail wheels and orangewood sticks. I came home with the new OPI collection- Miss Universe. Whoops! =) Funny how that happens. I am very glad it did though- this is a wonderful little collection. It's 4 colors that are very different from each other. Crown Me Already, Congeniality is my Middle Name, Swim suit-Nailed it, and It's My Year. They are all sparkly and blingy in their own way.
Over all they have a great consistency and cover very well. I will say this- they are hard to photograph well, and show their true beauty.

It's My Year
It's shimmery and sparkly and slightly duo-chrome. The base is a pinky-purple (I refuse to say mauve!) foil, jam packed with tiny little gold shimmers that are not even the slightest bit shy. It is reminiscent of Rally Pretty Pink, but darker, and more violet, and the same type of finish/duo as Lise Watier's Violet D'ore.
Two easy coats covers well, and dries really fast.

Here you can see the amazing gold/pink shimmer.

You can see the violet undertones better here.

Swimsuit..Nailed it!
Gorgeous, deep, dark and bright at the same time. It simply glows. Its depth reminds me of China Glaze frostbite, but it has a larger particle shimmer to it. It applied flawlessly and has perfect coverage. A top coat adds to the depth and it's like staring into a deep blue pool.

Wow, I can't stop staring at my nails =)

I present to you~
 Crown Me Already.
Oh My God.
This is the crown jewel of this collection in my opinion. Gorgeous true silver on your nails. It looks like they are actually metal. Its a clear base believe it or not, so densely packed with different sizes of the sparkliest silver I have ever seen! It's like metal, and ice, and diamonds all rolled up into one mesmerizing polish. Two coats gives full coverage! At times you might want to manipulate some of the larger glitters around if you are ridiculously particular like me, but if not then it's no problem. It goes on smooth, and easy and it dries FAST. It doesn't drag at all, and the second coat doesn't drag the first one off like a lot of other glitters do. (I'm talkin to you MAAH)
You might be able to do one veeerryyy thin coat over a dark colour for a nice effect, but seriously folks this is dense and has great coverage.

I could not even begin to capture her true beauty in these pictures!

Stunning!

This is one coat just to give you an idea of the density.

Congeniality is my Middle Name
This is a deep raspberry fuchsia that has strong violet tones. It has fuchsia/violet shimmer, that borders on being a glass fleck but not quite. Very pretty. Again good coverage and easy application.

Of this collection I would say Crown me Already and Swimsuit..Nailed it! are both must haves. The are gorgeous and unique with flawless application.
Congeniality is my Middle Name and It's my Year are both pretty and worth having, but if you have to choose, in my opinion they are less likely to cause you regret if you don't get them.

Here is a comparison pic of OPI Let me Entertain You and Congeniality is my Middle Name.
LMEY is on the index and middle fingers, and  CimMN is on the ring and pinky fingers.
LMEY us lighter, pinker and more glass flecked.

Thanks for looking

I Love a Good Layer! Layering experiment with Icing No Whinning and Pure Ice Busted

Ok so that was a cornball post title, but that's what happens when it's sweltering outside and you have to stay inside all day to avoid the inevitable melting.
Today I bring you *drumroll* No Whinning by Icing. It`s a gorgeous vampy blackened purple packed with burgundy shimmer. Inside it basically looks black, but outside WOW it comes to life. The shimmer just glows. It has smooth and easy application, and great shine. I am often quite impressed with the polishes from Icing. The price is right, the quality is usually good or great, and they are always on the ball with trends. They get an A+ from me.

Isn`t she pretty?

Here I have topped it with Busted from Pure Ice which is a sheer light purple with violet micro-shimmer in it. It's great layered over all kinds of colours.

Just gorgeous!

Layering polishes is so much fun! Sometimes you end up with such a surprise, it feels like a brand new polish!

A sneak preview of my private line of nail polish

I have always been a creative person, and I always want to do something new and different. So, indulging in my love of polishes I thought- Why don't I create my own line of nail polish. I have often had a polish that I liked but thought, this would be even nicer if..... blah blah blah. So- I began scouring companies for raw ingredients, did some research on chemicals and formulas to try and make myself some polishes. And I started of being a kitchen chemist. I found myself knee deep... er make that shoulder deep in pigments and bases and amazing colours. How could I not want to share this? So, I have been formulating some colours, and putting together some seasonal collections, and I plan to launch my own line of nail polish when I have enough stock to supply at least the first collection.

I have not officially named the company yet, although I have ideas. However being a Libra, I am very indecisive. So I have decided to run a contest of sorts. I will be taking submissions to name the polish line/company and if I choose yours, you will receive a set of the first collection released. (and I am sure a few other goodies)
I will post when the contest is officially open, but you can post below, or email me now at pamsgirlybits@hotmail(dot)com if you have a suggestion, and I will bank it for the contest.
SO- on with the preview. These are just some that I have been working on lately. They are likely to be tweaked a bit yet before release, and they will not all be in the same collection. But I did want to share a little taste.

*** NOTE-The bottles shown are not the retail bottles. They are old polish bottles that I cleaned out and use for mixing and testing, so I don't waste the retail bottles ***

This one is a deep dusty blue with lots of gold and greenish shimmer.
She is un-named as of yet. I am always open to name suggestions too.

This one I have called Bollywood for now. She is a medium-light aqua colour with lots of gold shimmer/micro glitter. The pics show her to  be a little more blue than in real life. She is definitely aqua/very light turquoise.

Mint green with subtle silver shimmer. The first picture is the most colour accurate.
Again, un-named as of yet.

Look at that holo sparkle!

This one started out to be a dupe of OPI's My Private Jet. I have not decided if I should make it a little more charcoal/grey so it's closer to MPJ or keep it the way it is. Either way, she is a stunner. This is one coat over one coat of black polish.

This one is a lovely rosey pink colour, chock full of multi-coloured sparkles. There is blue, pink, yellow, orange, gold, purple, teal, you name it, its in there.

This one is a dusty blue-ish purple with blue and pink sparkles in it.

And last but not least, this is a shimmery grape purple holo.
And it's a linear holo!
YAY for Holo!!  *\o/*

Ok, that's it for this post. I hope you are as excited for these as I am. And please let me know your thoughts on the colours, and ideas for names. Even if you think the colours are boring, let me know. I don't want to produce a bunch of colours that no one will love ♥

And yes, some of these pictures posted sideways. I will go fix them later :)
